Key Skills

Programme offering a key skill in problem solving or improving own learning and performance:

  • Aimed at 14-19
  • Helps delegates achieve an OCR qualification in Key Skills which equates to OFSTED points at levels 1, 2 and 3.
  • Sits alongside the curriculum in Design Technology, Science and Food.
  • Assists students to develop their own products/solutions, instructs them in the investigative process and encourages them to achieve more in their learning.

Covey

7 Habits for effective teens - based on internationally recognised 7 Habits for highly effective people course

  • A training programme to establish best practice in teenagers
  • Aimed at Year 10+ includes a level 3 key skill qualification
  • Involves 22 directed hours over 3 or 4 days
  • Helps with self-esteem, leadership skills, self-management and time management, defining and prioritising goals, and problem solving

CREST Awards

CREST is a nationally recognised accreditation scheme for project work in the fields of science and technology regulated by the British Science Association.

Aimed at students aged 11-19, CREST awards encourage students to develop their scientific curiosity, problem-solving and communication skills. Through a mentoring system, the scheme can facilitate links between schools and industry or higher education.

CREST in a day

Various workshops designed to be delivered in 1 day with students receiving bronze CREST awards.

  • Aimed at Key Stage 3 & 4
  • Students are given a problem or challenge to solve during the day, developing solutions and presenting their findings.

Financial Self Defence

One day/evening workshop focusing on understanding the financial, credit, debt & banking process

  • Aimed at Key stage 4
  • Helps with budgeting, financial management, understanding mortgages, interest rates, debt and how money works

Flight Day

Using the context of flight and aeroplanes, this workshop delivers a wide range of learning around science, technology and engineering.

  • Aimed at Key Stage 3 & 4
  • Students learn about flight forces and use that knowledge to develop their own paper aeroplane
  • Can be used as a CREST in a day workshop

Getting results and solving problems

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics activities delivered via a tailored workshop for 30 attendees

  • Aimed at Key Stage 2 & 3
  • Helps with design, planning, problem solving, mathematics appreciation etc..

Learn how to learn

One day interactive event to help learners understand their learning preferences and how their personality affects their learning.

  • Aimed at Key Stage 3
  • Helps attendees determine their own learning style and understand how they learn best.
  • IOLP Key Skills can be attached.

Next Steps and Goals

Half day workshop on understanding the power of goal setting enabling attendees to discover and set their own goals and aspirations.

  • Aimed at Year 10
  • Helps with goal setting and determining further education and career choices.

Thinking and Learning Styles

One day seminar on how and why we learn and how we interact with others

  • Aimed at 14+
  • Helps attendees discover their particular learning style via perception, thinking, values and personality and then to apply that knowledge to improve their learning.
  • Can do IOLP key skill at cost of £30/ attendee
